Innovation and entrepreneurship continue to redefine economies around the world, and Pakistan’s startup ecosystem is increasingly demonstrating its ability to create meaningful impact. As founders across the country build solutions to address real-world challenges, platforms that nurture and scale these ideas are becoming more important than ever. Reinforcing its commitment to strengthening entrepreneurship and accelerating innovation, the National Incubation Center Karachi (NIC Karachi) has officially commenced its Cohort 15, welcoming 36 promising startups into its flagship incubation programme.
The launch of Cohort 15 represents another important milestone in Pakistan’s entrepreneurial journey. Following an extensive and highly competitive selection process that attracted more than 500 applications and included approximately 160 startup pitches, the selected ventures emerged as some of the most promising and high-potential startups from across the country. Their selection reflects not only the growing volume of entrepreneurial activity but also the increasing quality and maturity of startup ideas emerging within Pakistan.
Managed by LMKT in partnership with Lucky Landmark Pvt. Limited and supported by global acceleration partner Orbit Startups, NIC Karachi aims to provide entrepreneurs with the strategic guidance, mentorship, and ecosystem support required to build sustainable and scalable businesses. The incubation journey goes beyond offering workspace or resources; it focuses on creating an environment where founders can access knowledge, industry expertise, and growth opportunities that help transform innovative ideas into successful ventures.
As Pakistan’s largest incubation center and startup accelerator, NIC Karachi, funded by Ignite National Technology Fund, has played a significant role in shaping the country’s startup landscape over the years. The impact generated by its incubated startups reflects the strength of the ecosystem being developed. Collectively, NIC Karachi startups have created over one million jobs, generated more than Rs12 billion in revenue, and raised approximately Rs13 billion in investments. These milestones demonstrate how startup ecosystems can contribute not only to innovation but also to broader economic growth and employment generation.
A key strength of Cohort 15 lies in its access to global expertise and international networks through NIC Karachi’s collaboration with Orbit Ventures, one of the leading international venture capital firms operating in Pakistan. Through this partnership, startups will benefit from enhanced mentorship, structured capacity-building initiatives, and greater exposure to global markets and funding opportunities.
For founders entering the programme, this collaboration provides an opportunity to gain insights that extend beyond local market challenges. Access to international perspectives, investor networks, and entrepreneurial best practices can significantly strengthen a startup’s ability to compete both regionally and globally.
Sharing his perspective on the expanding startup ecosystem, Muhammad Bilal Abbasi, General Manager Projects at Ignite, highlighted the growing recognition of Pakistan’s innovation sector on the global stage. He emphasized that Ignite’s National Incubation Centers established across major cities have evolved into active centers of entrepreneurship and technological advancement. These hubs continue to play an important role in supporting product-driven startups with strong potential in deep technology and emerging sectors.
He further noted that these initiatives are helping strengthen Pakistan’s export potential by supporting scalable, technology-focused ventures while providing entrepreneurs with access to mentorship, funding opportunities, and market linkages necessary for long-term growth.
Speaking on the launch of Cohort 15, Syed Azfar Hussain, Project Director of NIC Karachi, highlighted the significance of this new chapter in the organization’s ongoing mission to strengthen Pakistan’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
“The launch of Cohort 15 marks another important milestone in our journey to strengthen Pakistan’s startup ecosystem. The quality and diversity of ideas we have seen this year reflect the growing maturity of entrepreneurship in the country. At NIC Karachi, we are committed to providing founders with not just resources, but the right mentorship, networks, and global exposure needed to build scalable and impactful ventures.”
His remarks reflect a broader reality shaping the future of entrepreneurship: successful startups require more than innovative ideas. They require access to the right ecosystem, strategic support, and opportunities that enable sustainable growth.
As Pakistan continues to establish itself as an emerging hub for innovation and technology, initiatives such as NIC Karachi’s incubation programme are becoming increasingly important in creating pathways for entrepreneurial success. By investing in founders and supporting scalable ideas, NIC Karachi continues to strengthen the foundation for a future driven by innovation, economic growth, and transformative impact.
With 36 new startups beginning their journey through Cohort 15, the next chapter of innovation in Pakistan is already underway.
